What are collagen biostimulators?

Collagen biostimulators are products based on Calcium Hydroxyapatite or Polylactic Acid, which is a compound absorbable by the body with the same characteristics as human teeth and bones.

How does it work?

In general, biostimulators, cause a mild inflammatory reaction in the dermis, causing the cells responsible for collagen production to activate and produce new fibers for a long period of time. It is a unique collagen replacement treatment that helps to gradually and subtly reduce lines, wrinkles and folds.

Differentiating itself from other traditional fillers, its results are natural-looking, and last an average of 2 years. It helps replenish facial collagen and restores lost volume, giving a more natural appearance, providing firmer, smoother and rejuvenated skin.

Evaluation. Schedule your evaluation appointment.
First consultation - clinical. During the consultation, you will have the opportunity to discuss the treatment and the results you want to achieve with our medical specialist.
Treatment. It begins with cleansing and disinfection of the skin. Next, an anesthetic cream will be applied to the treatment area for comfort. After identifying the treatment areas, a series of injections will be performed, painlessly and without a needle, all done with a cannula.
Post-treatment / results. You will see the result of the treatment immediately, however, it can be seen more visibly after 4 to 6 weeks. In 12 weeks the treatment reaches its peak, in which the skin becomes firmer, more elastic and hydrated.

Important note: Regarding the number of sessions required, the treatment protocols suggest one to three sessions, with annual maintenance. The number of sessions will be defined depending on the degree of flaccidity. In younger skins, generally one session already brings improvements and serves as prevention. More mature skins generally need more sessions and combined treatments.

How long do the results last?

The duration of the results is, on average, about 2 years. However, the lifestyle of the person also has an impact on the durability of this procedure, as well as the day-to-day skin care.

Is any care needed after the procedure?

The care to be taken after treatment with collagen biostimulators are:

Do not touch the treated area for 4 hours;
Avoid sleeping under the treated area for 3 nights;
If a bruise appears, apply arnica gel several times a day (can be purchased at any pharmacy);
Do not do any facial treatments for 4 weeks. After that period, you may have other facial treatments, except laser treatments;
Avoid strenuous exercises and those that cause the face to heat up for 2 weeks.

What is the post-procedure care?

After treatment, the skin may become inflamed and sensitive around the injection site, which improves within 24-48 hours. Allergic reactions to the product, such as redness and itching, rarely occur and can be treated with topical anti-inflammatory drugs or oral tablets, as directed by your doctor.

It is a procedure that does not require much time for recovery. However, it is recommended to use sunscreen and avoid excessive exposure to the sun, as well as to avoid intense physical activities during the recovery period (day of the procedure). The day after the procedure, normal activities can be resumed, and no further rest is required. However, avoid strenuous exercises and those that cause the face to heat up.

What are the contraindications?

The procedure is contraindicated for patients with allergy and hypersensitivity to the biostimulators' active ingredient, as well as for pregnant and lactating women, people with acute infectious diseases, skin inflammation, cancers, tendency to keloids, tendency to bleed, and some blood diseases (blood clotting), and immune system diseases.

What are the complementary treatments?

Anti-wrinkle creams
