Frequently Asked Questions

How Many Hollywood Peel Sessions Do I Need?

The number of sessions depends on your goal. For an immediate brightening effect before an event, a single session is sufficient. For longer-lasting results, to even out tone, reduce blemishes, control oiliness or acne, we usually recommend a protocol of 3 to 5 sessions, with intervals of 20 to 30 days between each one. The ideal plan is defined during your assessment, according to your skin type and what you want to treat.

How Long Do the Results Last?

The duration of the effects can vary depending on individual factors such as skin type, age, lifestyle and how the skin is maintained after the treatment. Usually, the immediate effects of a Hollywood Peel, such as improved luminosity and smoothness of the skin, can be noticed immediately after the procedure. These immediate benefits usually last for several days. For longer-lasting improvements in skin texture, tone and reduction of fine lines or pigmentation, multiple sessions are often recommended.

The long-term effects of a Hollywood Peel can last several months, but this depends on the condition of the individual’s skin and how they care for their skin after the treatment. To prolong the effects, it is generally advisable to follow a skin care routine, protect the skin from sun exposure and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Regular maintenance is also commonly recommended. Many people choose to have a Hollywood Peel every few months to maintain their skin’s appearance. However, the specific frequency will depend on your personal skin goals and the advice of our professionals.

How Often Should I Repeat the Treatment?

After the initial protocol, many people opt for maintenance sessions every few months to preserve the skin’s glow and texture. The exact frequency depends on your goals and the advice of your therapist.

What Should I Do Before the Session?

Avoid sun exposure and tanning in the two weeks before. Discontinue exfoliating acids (AHA/BHA), retinol and other aggressive actives a few days before. On the day of the session, come with clean skin and no make-up.

How Does the Carbon Laser Facial Work?

STEP 1 – Application of Nano Carbon Particles

The procedure lasts around 45 minutes, starting with the therapist putting eye shields on you. A face mask of activated charcoal or carbon powder is prepared and gently applied to your face. Once applied, it will look like you’re wearing a mud mask!

STEP 2 – Breakdown of dirt and epidermal keratinocytes

The laser passes over your skin emitting pulses that heat thin layers of collagen and skin tissue. The carbon absorbs the heat and transfers it to allow deeper penetration into your skin.

The laser energy works to break down any pigment, which is eliminated naturally by your body. It also helps to stimulate collagen production, which minimizes fine lines.

STEP 3 – Stimulating skin cell regeneration

In Q-switch mode, the laser lightly exfoliates your skin. You will hear a slight pop as the carbon is removed from the skin. You may feel a slight tingling sensation. This superficial exfoliation removes excess sebum, exfoliates the top layer of skin and unclogs pores.

STAGE 4 – Production of new collagen and elastin

The final pass is made over your face to ensure that all the carbon has been removed. The laser frequency is increased again to ensure that all the carbon has been vaporized.

Always use SPF 30 or higher.

What Aftercare Should I Follow After the Treatment?

Apply sunscreen SPF 30 or higher and avoid direct sun exposure. For the first 24 hours, avoid make-up, intense heat, saunas, the gym and anything that causes perspiration. Cleanse your skin gently and keep it well moisturized. In the following days, avoid exfoliating acids and retinol until the skin has fully recovered. Your therapist will tell you which serum/hydrator is best for you.

Can the Hollywood Peel Remove Acne Scars?

The laser creates microscopic holes in your skin, which helps to promote collagen growth and kill any living bacteria that can improve acne. For acne scars, we would recommend stronger treatments such as microneedling.

What Are the Contraindications of the Hollywood Peel?

Although it is a safe treatment and suitable for all skin types, it is not recommended in the following cases: pregnancy and breastfeeding; active infections in the area to be treated (e.g. herpes); open wounds, dermatitis or skin irritations; recent tanning or intense sun exposure in the previous few days; recent use of oral isotretinoin (it is recommended to wait around 6 months); and a known tendency towards keloid scars. Before any session, an assessment is carried out to confirm whether the treatment is right for you.

How Long Does a Hollywood Peel Session Last?

The session usually lasts between 30 and 45 minutes and provides immediate results, including brighter, smoother and softer skin.

What Is the Hollywood Peel?

Carbon peeling is an exfoliation and resurfacing treatment . It uses activated carbon powder and an advanced Q-switch laser to treat many conditions. Gentle on your skin and suitable for all ages, it will leave your skin firmer and revitalized.

What Is the Difference Between the Hollywood Peel and a Chemical Peel?

The Hollywood Peel uses an activated carbon mask and laser, offering immediate luminosity with no recovery time. The chemical peel uses acids to renew the skin in greater depth and is more suitable for blemishes and uneven texture, but may involve some peeling. We’ll help you choose the one that’s right for you.
