Tensioning wires

Tensioning threads is an anti-aging treatment that doesn’t require general anesthesia or invasive surgery, and is also known as a non-surgical facelift. The face is left looking natural, and the results are discreet but can last up to 18 months. The treatment session requires just 30 minutes to complete.

PDO (Polydioxanone) yarn is a strong filament fiber, consisting of a few strands of twisted solid fiber, which dissolves in the body tissue after a certain time (usually 6 to 8 months)

PDO material has been used for more than 30 years in plastic surgery, gastroenterology, urology, gynecology and ophthalmology for skin and subcutaneous stitches. These threads have high tensile strength, excellent flexibility and smooth tissue passage. They are made from material that meets all the requirements established by the United States Pharmacopoeia (USP) for surgical sutures.

ODP ultimately breaks down into water and carbon dioxide, which are absorbed naturally by the skin. It causes a very mild reaction during absorption, minimal inflammatory reaction with subsequent formation of new collagen production around the hair (neo-collagenesis).

In our clinic we use the highest quality PDO threads. They are FDA-approved, moldable and 100% absorbable.

1. Evaluation. Make an appointment for an assessment.
2. First appointment – clinical. During the consultation, you will have the opportunity to discuss the treatment and the results you want to achieve with our specialist doctor.
3. Treatment. It starts with cleansing and disinfecting the skin. Next, an anesthetic cream will be applied to the treatment area for greater comfort. After a small local anesthetic, the doctor inserts the PDO threads under the skin to a depth of around three to five millimeters, using needles of different lengths and thicknesses, adapted to each treatment area, creating an immediate lifting effect. No cutting is required.
   Once the threads are in the desired place, the specialist doctor gently compresses the tissue to manually reshape it and thus achieve the desired lifting effect. The uninserted ends of the threads are cut off. The number of threads used varies according to each patient’s needs.
4. Post-treatment / results. You will see the results of the treatment immediately, but they can be seen more visibly after 2 weeks, which is how long it takes for the collagen stimulation to show its effects. In 4 weeks the treatment reaches its peak, where the skin becomes firmer, more elastic and hydrated.
   If the patient doesn’t want to have face lift surgery, thread lifting can be a very effective alternative. The threads dissolve in a few months, but the effect lasts longer than normal dermal fillers.

Note: Tensioning threads can be performed as a single treatment or combined with another procedure (filler, anti-wrinkle injection).
