Micropigmentation

What is micropigmentation?

Are your eyebrows sparse or have gaps? Or maybe you have plucked them out too much?

Do you wish you had fuller, more defined lips? Now you can get it with the micropigmentation technique.

With micropigmentation, it is possible to draw eyebrows, eye and lip contours, illuminate, and correct flaws, using techniques that give a natural appearance.

Eyebrows are the most prominent facial feature, responsible for expressions, warmth and depth, as well as being a contributing factor to how people perceive us. The right design of your eyebrows can provide a stunning shape, extra definition for a more youthful look, and the impression of an "oval" shaped face (the perfect shape); or just enhance existing brows by adding more volume, definition, or desired shape.

The end result will leave you with custom eyebrows that suit your face and skin tone. Whatever you are looking for, from creating more volume, definition, enhancing or changing the shape, you can choose the style that will suit you and restore the appearance of realistic brows. Using a natural hairline effect or a combination of hairline and soft shading, we can create a perfectly shaped, yet natural-looking eyebrow.

This procedure must be performed with utmost caution and excellence by a specialized professional.

How does it work?

  1. Evaluation: To ensure your satisfaction, it is essential to discuss your expectations from the beginning. During the consultation, we will have a conversation to understand the eyebrow style you want to achieve. Here's a suggestion: bring a reference, such as a photo you like. This will help the professional visualize the result you have in mind. In this phase, the specialist will also evaluate your skin and the characteristics of your face, paying special attention to the area that will be pigmented. In addition, he will be available to answer all your questions.
  2. Creation: This is the stage of designing the eyebrow design. We use a pencil to trace directly on the skin. We call this "planning the procedure", in order to allow you to visualize the final result. Once the design is approved, we proceed with the selection of the appropriate shade.
  3. Coloration: Careful selection of the pigment colors to be used is of utmost importance. It takes into consideration both the natural shade of the eyebrow hairs and the pigmentation of your skin. It is a true harmonization process! The experienced eye of the professional ensures the perfect combination of colors for each individual.
  4. Micropigmentation: This procedure is superficial, reaching only the outermost layer of the skin, known as the epidermis. For this reason, it is not permanent like a tattoo and lasts from eight months to a year. However, several precautions are required. This includes not only the use of disposable materials, correct handling, and maximum hygiene, but also the proper choice of pigment.
  5. Post-treatment / results: Between thirty and sixty days after the procedure, it is essential to return for an evaluation. At this time, the professional checks the healing of the skin and, if necessary, performs retouching that contributes to the longevity of the result.

Which areas can be treated?

  • Eyebrow micropigmentation: The purpose of eyebrow micropigmentation is to improve facial harmony by providing balance to the elements of the face. There are several options of results and styles to choose from: full, defined, thinned, or voluminous eyebrows.
  • Lip micropigmentation: Mic ropigmentation of the lips revitalizes the tone, giving the area an even healthier look. In addition, this technique can be used to cover blemishes and enhance the contour. The result can reproduce the natural color of the lips or obtain a lipstick-like effect, according to your preferences.
  • Eye micropigmentation: Eye micropigmentation aims to enhance the look, providing practicality to the day-to-day, eliminating the need to apply and remove the eyeliner made with conventional makeup. There are several options of results and styles to choose from: thin, delicate lines on the top and bottom of the eyes; draw the iconic and desired 'kitten' line; or create a smoky effect.

Frequently Asked Questions

For whom is it suitable?

For all people, for different reasons, the most common being that it saves precious time every morning, gives the face a "younger" and healthier appearance, and, unlike traditional makeup, stays on for 24 hours without smudging or needing to be reapplied.

Will the result of micropigmentation look natural?

Yes, the end result of micropigmentation will look very natural. The healing process takes up to 12 days (with visible healing with crust formation) and 6 weeks of healing of the underlying skin, so it is important to remember that your micropigmentation will look stronger and more dramatic in the first 6-12 days.

Does micropigmentation hurt?

Micropigmentation treatments are much gentler than you might think, and topical anesthetics are applied to the skin before and during the procedure to ensure the most comfortable experience possible. The equipment used is refined, quiet, and gentle. Many clients have commented that the treatment is no more painful than plucking or waxing their eyebrows with tweezers, and some have said that they only felt a "tingling" sensation. The procedures are much less invasive than traditional tattooing, so the discomfort is not as bothersome. Many clients have stated that threading is actually more painful than eyebrow treatment. Eyeliners and lips are also pre-anesthetized before the procedure to ensure greater comfort.

How long do the results of micropigmentation last?

This often varies from person to person due to different factors, which may include skin type, cosmetic products and routine, diet, smoking, metabolism, genetics, and environmental factors. The use of tanning beds and exposure to the sun also influence pigment retention, but this can be prevented with adequate protection.

In general, darker colors stay on the skin a little longer, while lighter colors are more vulnerable to the effects of factors such as the sun or swimming pools. Your body's natural responses also break down the pigment particles. As a guideline, it can range from 1 to 3 years for micropigmentation before a re-treatment is necessary, although it is recommended to do maintenance color touch-ups between 9 to 12 months after the original treatment. When the color begins to fade, you will know that you are ready to do a color touch-up. On average, eyebrows and lips will start fading sooner (9 to 12 months); eyeliners (1 to 2 years).

How long will the micropigmentation treatment take?

Treatment time will vary depending on how advanced or detailed the required result is. While some treatments may take as little as an hour, it is advisable to allow about 2 hours and 10 minutes for your consultation (including consultation time on the day of treatment).

What will I look like after the treatment?

The treated areas will be darker immediately after the initial session and for the next 6-12 days, but the color will lighten after that period. The lips may have some residual swelling (2 days to 1 week) and may become dry. There may be some slight swelling after eyeliner treatment, but this is usually limited. The thicker the eyeliner, the more swelling can be expected. Generally, 6 weeks to 3 months after the initial treatment, a follow-up appointment should be scheduled, and any adjustments will be made.

Can I wear makeup after the micropigmentation treatment?

You can wear "mineral" makeup immediately after treatment near the treated areas and normal makeup about an inch away from the treated areas; however, you must wait until the treated area is completely healed before applying makeup to the treated areas. If applying traditional makeup to other areas of the face, make sure not to put anything on the treated area, as this can cause problems with healing. Micropigmentation is generally used to enhance your natural features, so after the treatment has healed, you can use makeup to complement and enhance your micropigmentation.

What if I have medical problems?

A thorough evaluation of your medical history will be done prior to treatment via an email questionnaire. Although there are occasions when some people are not suitable for micropigmentation and due to medical issues, this is quite rare.

Are there risks involved?

The treatments involve the implantation of pigment into the skin, so they are invasive procedures; there are risks as well as benefits. As with any invasive procedure, risks can include allergic reactions, undesired results, misplaced color, infection, or scarring. All risks are minimized due to full adherence to all Health and Safety guidelines, high quality training received, and many years of experience.

How quickly does the skin heal?

Each person is different, but as a general rule, the surface skin heals 4 to 7 days after treatment and 10 to 14 days below the surface. After the first 4 to 7 days, the healing skin will begin to peel smoothly and the treated area will become clearer. For the best possible results, it is advisable to attend the touch-up appointment to refine each treated area. Many people return to work the same day after treatment, however, it is advisable not to drive after an eyeliner treatment if your eyes become a little puffy or watery immediately after treatment.

Is it necessary to do anything special to care for the micropigmentation treatment while it is healing?

Post-treatment instructions will be provided along with a recommended post-treatment balm. All you need to do is follow our simple steps.

Do I need to take time off work after micropigmentation treatment?

Unless you choose to, it is not necessary. You should be able to return to work immediately after treatment. Returning to work may be affected after Delineation treatment if your job requires you to drive immediately after treatment. It is not advisable to drive immediately after eye procedures; therefore, you should make other transportation arrangements.

Is there anything I should avoid doing after the treatment?

It is recommended not to apply traditional makeup, expose the skin to extreme heat, cold or humidity, kiss or apply petroleum-based ointments immediately after treatment. It is also advisable not to drive immediately after eye procedures. The lip area will be sensitive, and to avoid the risk of infection, it is not recommended to consume food or drink or touch the area immediately after the procedure. These requirements are explained in detail after the treatment.
