Acne scars

Acne scars result when lesions penetrate the deepest section of the skin and underlying tissues. The body tries to repair the damage, leaving a scar.

The type of scar is related to the type of collagen:

  • Deep acne scars: these are formed as a result of too little collagen production.
  • Superficial acne scars: too much collagen production.

Types of treatment

During your consultation, you will have the opportunity to discuss your treatment and the results you wish to achieve. The therapist will create an individualized treatment protocol based on your scar type.

The following treatments can be used individually or in combination:

  • Micro-needling with Dermapen: stimulates collagen production, improving the skin's ability to repair itself. A procedure in which a series of needles penetrate the skin, causing thousands of micro-lesions at a vertical angle, for faster and more precise penetration of active ingredients. The result is an increase in collagen production, which effectively reduces acne scars and revitalizes the skin.
  • Anti-acne peeling: reduces the frequency of lesions and improves the overall appearance of the skin, and is the most suitable method for spots caused by acne.

With micro-needling one can achieve almost similar results to treatments such as: fractional laser, IPL, laser resurfacing and chemical peels, without the negative side effects and downtime. Treatments are repeated at an interval of 4 weeks.

The results are visible as early as the first session, depending on the type of scar, and the benefits will prevail in the weeks following treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does microneedling treatment hurt?

You might think that having several micro needles acting on your skin would be painful, but surprisingly, it is not. Before the treatment, a topical anesthetic will be applied, which will eliminate any discomfort during the process. Of course, some people are more sensitive than others, but overall the feedback we have from clients is that it can compare to a rough massage.

Is microneedling treatment safe?

Yes, the treatment is safe. Micro needling does not penetrate the skin's natural barrier, but only penetrates the epidermis to stimulate collagen production. The epidermis heals quickly, usually in a matter of hours, and the skin is back to normal within 48 hours.

What is the recovery process like?

You will see results immediately after treatment, however, they will be more visible in the following weeks.
