Filling with hyaluronic acid

What is hyaluronic acid filling?

Hyaluronic acid is a substance produced naturally by the body, which is concentrated between the collagen and elastic fibers of the skin.

Filling with hyaluronic acid is a technique that consists in injecting hyaluronic acid in certain areas in order to improve the skin, smoothing wrinkles and other age marks.

What are the benefits?

  • diminishes the signs of aging on the face;
  • reduces skin flaccidity;
  • it is possible to reshape the face, such as zygomatic/malar or lip augmentation.
  • is a safe alternative, without the need for surgical procedures;
  • you get very natural results.

It is ideal for those seeking immediate results and with little downtime.

The treatment step by step

  1. Evaluation
    Schedule your evaluation appointment.
  2. First appointment - clinical
    During your consultation, you will have the opportunity to discuss your treatment and the results you want to achieve with our doctor.
  3. Treatment
    The treatment session begins with the hygienization of the skin. Next, an anesthetic ointment is used to relieve the discomfort caused by the contact of the needle with the skin. After the first stage, the application of hyaluronic acid is started by injecting it into the skin. Depth measures are used according to the need for treatment. The substance applied promotes the elevation of the treated area, giving the skin the ideal volume. The session is usually performed only once. As it is an absorbable filler, its average duration is 9 to 12 months. Periodic applications can be done depending on the case and the specialist's evaluation.
  4. After-treatment / results
    The results are immediate. Soon after the hyaluronic acid absorption period, the skin becomes more hydrated, stimulating collagen production and bringing rejuvenation to the face.

Note: you can combine hyaluronic acid treatment with other aesthetic procedures to reduce wrinkles and expression lines. Learn more in the Frequently Asked Questions section below.

If you don't like needles, there is the option to do needle-free filling using the Hyaluron Pen.

Which areas can be treated?

Hyaluronic Acid has the objective of bringing firmness to flaccid skin or highlighting it in a natural way, being an efficient treatment for the reduction of wrinkles and expression marks. It is applied in the regions of the eyes, mouth, chin, face, and hands, promoting the rejuvenation of the skin as a whole.

Thus, this procedure is used to:

  • Increase in lip volume;
  • Increasing volume of the zygomatic/malar;
  • Attenuate the nasolabial fold (Chinese mustache);
  • Attenuate the labiomentorial sulcus (marionette wrinkles);

Frequently Asked Questions

How long do the results of hyaluronic acid fillers last?

The duration of the results is, on average, about 6 to 9 months. However, the lifestyle of the person has an impact on the durability of the procedure, as does the care they take with their skin on a daily basis.

Is any care needed before a hyaluronic acid filling?

Some cosmetic products, such as acids, are contraindicated before and after the procedure, so you must be especially careful with these products. This is also the case with some aesthetic treatments. During the first evaluation appointment, your health history and skin care will be evaluated to see if there are any contraindications.

What is the care after the filling with hyaluronic acid?

After treatment, the skin may become inflamed and sensitive around the injection site, improving in 24-48 hours. Rarely, allergic reactions to the product, such as redness and itching, may occur. In these cases, topical anti-inflammatory drugs or oral tablets can be used, as directed by your doctor.

It is a procedure that does not require much time for recovery. However, it is recommended to use sunscreen and avoid excessive exposure to the sun, as well as to avoid intense physical activities during the recovery period (day of the procedure). The day after the procedure, normal activities can be resumed, requiring no more rest.

What are the contraindications of filling with hyaluronic acid?

The use of hyaluronic acid is contraindicated for pregnant women, people who have sensitivity to this type of acid. It is also contraindicated for those with autoimmune diseases, those who use anticoagulants, and for those susceptible to keloids.

What are the advantages of filling with hyaluronic acid?

Among the benefits of the treatment are the durability, which can be between 6 to 9 months, and depending on the case, can go up to 1 year.

With the application of hyaluronic acid it is possible to obtain natural results in the contour of the face leaving it outlined and uniform, the lips more drawn and youthful looking. It can also diminish wrinkles and expression marks around the mouth, chin, and eyes, promoting hydrated skin.

What are the complementary treatments?

There are other treatments that can be complementary to this one, including the following:

Anti-wrinkle creams

Anti-wrinkle creams fight aging and moisturize the skin. They are divided into cosmetics, dermocosmetics, and nutricosmetics.

  • cosmetics have superficial action and act to moisturize and protect the skin from the action of wind, heat, and pollution;
  • The dermocosmetics act in a deeper way, they have actives and substances that are more potent in combating spots, scars, and flabbiness;
  • nutricosmetics, such as collagen and antioxidants, help improve the skin from the inside out.

Anti-Wrinkle Injection

The anti-wrinkle injection treatment is effective in combating sagging and uses the filling technique to eliminate and smooth wrinkles. A powdered substance is diluted and applied to the superficial layer of the skin in a precise manner, considering a distance of 1.5 cm between one area and another. In the first 48 hours it is possible to observe the results, and maintenance can be done in an average of 6 to 9 months. Learn more on the Anti-Wrinkle Injection page

Radiofrequency is one of the most effective non-invasive methods for visibly firming and toning the skin. Radiofrequency energy stimulates the contraction of existing collagen fibers and the production of new cells to smooth, tone, and firm the skin. Learn more on the radiofrequency page

Micro-needling is done through a natural stimulation based on micro-needles that penetrate the dermis favoring the formation of new collagen fibers, which give firmness and support to the skin. Learn more on the Micro-needling page

Are hyaluronic acid fillers and anti-wrinkle injections the same thing?

No, the treatments have different characteristics:

  • Anti-wrinkle injection: indicated for the treatment of static or dynamic wrinkles, with the objective of reducing and preventing the formation of wrinkles and expression lines and focused on the muscle area;
  • Filling with hyaluronic acid: used to fill in places where the skin lacks volume, such as deeper creases.
Can I have Hyaluronic Acid Filling and Anti-Wrinkle Injection on the same day?

Yes, it is possible to do both treatments on the same day. It is, in fact, through the combination of these two types of facial fillers that the best results are obtained.
